Background
This fellowship program, the first in Los Angeles, will train the next generation of psychiatric leaders in public service to help address this important local need. There are over 20 Public and Community Psychiatry Fellowships in the US and Canada. These 1-year clinical fellowships, connected through the American Association of Community Psychiatry, train psychiatrists to work within publicly funded and community mental health systems and emphasize leadership, management, policy development, quality improvement, recovery-oriented care, and physician advocacy.
The UCLA Public and Community Psychiatry Fellowship program is led by Dr. Roya Ijadi-Maghsoodi, a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist within the Division of Population Behavioral Health.
Goal
The UCLA Public Psychiatry Fellowship Program, the first of its kind in Los Angeles, is a one-year clinical fellowship that aims to improve the behavioral health of our community by training the next generation of leaders in public mental health services.
